in regards to the comment about missing things while you were noticing things... please help me ? I KNOW i missed MAJOR things. Half the time I wonder if I am retarded and everyone is laughing at me! I know that also comes from the "joker" side of the universe.

I am addicted to this (can i call it spiritual) experience! I have it so often! I am able to divine LOTS of information from many different sources. Problems I have are with clarity and quality. On this level of communication my mind corrupts due to my biases ( i am guessing)

also due to the nature of the experience i constantly search for it more and more and more because i want the source. Also it makes me feel as if something greater is coming and i lose track of practical things i should have been focusing on or doing.

I would like to say it is easy to understand these things, but i feel the same way in ALL aspects of life.

I dont understand social norms. I dont understand women. I dont understand people at work. I dont understand school. The only thing I seem able to understand is myself and my relationship with the universe, but THAT understanding (or overstanding) does not seem to mesh with ANYTHING else in my life!

you would think with powers like these we were meant to do more, but i seem unable to do anything that even a "normal" person completes with apparent ease (or perhaps just hard work)

I have been to a psychologist, at first it seemed we were making progress and then like all other things in my life it stopped halfway and became a lie. It was just a brief comfort where someone promised they understood, began educating me and then cut off the reality of the situation.

another hustle, another joke, another way of making me feel like the most powerful bum in the universe.

my biggest fear right now ... being that bum on the street corner saying i know it is real. I know it is real. i know it is real. And whenever I see those people, wearing technicolor rubber raincoats who have pink hair or ugly tattoos or whatever the hell it is i know... that person does not just have bad taste, or is not crazy... some higher power fucking did that to them! on purpose! probably the same way it is happening to me!

In all seriousness, i think I will be ok. i am well read, and do try my best to be a good person. I can be quite deceptive and cunning ( i had always been ashamed of my attraction to magic, religion, metaphysical , etc)

I think what i need most in life is a real teacher. A real guru. a real master. I find that my only real teacher is myself. My father can teach me only by pushing me to learn more from myself. I don't know where I can find someone who can say... "THIS IS THE TRUTH" and have it stick in reality. or who can say "this is how to do this PROPERLY" ... i cant even think straight enough to finish what i was saying so i end my long winded here and hope that you simply understand what i am trying to say, and appreciate any responses or advice.

The cities and people, they seem like props.

I've noticed the street lights too, just not that much, as well as my best friend. She mentioned lights turning on and off, a few months later I notice it as well. But like some said, I just thought I was being silly

Yes, that seems an excellent description. I have a daughter (with Aspie traits) who always excelled at math (and multitasking), but teachers would always want her to break a problem into steps and she found that unreasonable (even though she knew the right answer, she often wasn't sure how she got it).

Hi eaucoin,

I too have had similar experiences of guessing things far more accurately than seems normal to others. I think there is something in the mathematical process you mention - it feels familiar to me. I do much better at guessing when maths is involved in some way - I find it interesting that your example involves percentages.

Actually, the combination of hints you offer as to the cause all feel right to me. Now you've got me thinking about it, my own explanation would involve the use of a sort of inferred observed logic that most other people simply wouldn't see. I'd know little about the subject behind the question, but I'd be able to make associations and apply logic that sometimes lead to an answer that is surprisingly accurate. Does that make sense to you? I'm not sure I can describe it any better.

It doesn't happen that often to me, but it does happen.

It's also great to hear that the number of people who've quietly observed streetlamp interference is growing.

I wonder if anyone else who reads this blog has also experienced it?

Hi g,

Thank you for all of that! The oddities I described are all things that have bothered me or one reason or another over the years, but are also things that I've kept quiet about, for obvious reasons. It is only the anonymity of this site that makes me feel that I can talk about them at all, and even then it took eighteen moths before I plucked up the courage. I'm glad I did though.

It's great to hear from someone else who has experienced so many similar things to me. Actually, I'm very surprised. I expected to hear from others who maybe had one or two of the experiences, but didn't expect anyone to have experienced just about everything.

I also find it very interesting that your experiences of this kind sound like they are rather more frequent than mine. A personal question - and feel free not to answer - do you suffer a lot of anxiety or stress? I've tentatively associated the streetlight interference in particular with times where I'm feeling either overly stressed, anxious, or sometimes elated - heightened emotions of one form or another.

I do alright with electronics. I too work with computers, and have done my fair share of building and upgrading the hardware in them, without any mysterious breakages.

The 'Sys Admin Proximity Effect' is something else entirely though. I came up with this phrase ten years or so ago at work, and I suppose it is akin to your ability to fix other peoples broken electronics, often just by switching them on, as you described.

In my job as a sys admin, I'll often get called over to look at some sort of software or network problem that someone else at work is having. I'll sit at their desk, ask them what they were trying to do, and then try it myself. And it works first time, much to their surprise, and protestations that they had just been trying the exact same thing.
The name came as a joke after I kept returning to my desk having 'magically' fixed another problem just by being there, but it was soon picked up and used by my colleagues too, despite them not noticeably having the same degree of 'magic' ability in this field.

There was of course no magic involved, and most likely nothing other than coincidence at play. Has it ever felt to me like it was more than coincidence though? Yup. From time to time.

But that really could just be wishful thinking.

O.k. So how about this? Very often when there's a random guess involved in something, I get very close or dead on. So, say we're playing a trivia game, and for instance, a question comes up like, "what percentage of people do such and such?" I will get it right and have done so often enough that people comment. At the time, it's just random to me. That may be about logic or not being influenced by the same preconceptions, but when it happens, people say "whoa" or "how did you get that?" And I have no explanation, I just know. (It feels like some math process that I can't slow down.) I noticed the streetlight thing too, but I just thought that was me being silly.

Wow. I've actually had all these strange experiences too.

I've noticed the streetlight thing before and even had friends point out it out to me (and I already knew, of course). I also visited one of these friends all the time, and every time I would go to her apartment, the streetlight would _always_ go out whenever walked near it. Consistently, it would also turn back on when I would walk far enough away. I even repeated walking close and near a few times... and it turned off and on each time.

There's actually a name for this phenomenon: "Street Light Interference":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_light_interference
http://paranormal.about.com/od/telekinesispsychokinesis/a/aa052508.htm

Somewhat related, electronics also go wonky in my presence. It happens so much friends and colleagues joke about it, even if they don't already know. It's quite funny, considering that I work in the field of computers... and hardware keeps failing. (Although, when I did computer repair over a decade ago, I was able to mysteriously fix computers others couldn't... often just by powering them on.)

I also remember a strange lightning bolt in the sky, in mid-day, and it formed a V. It bounced down and back up... it was quite interesting.

About UFOs: I remember seeing a weird one with lights and it hovered around a bit and darted off when I was a kid. Years later, I saw a HUGE flash of light in the sky and trail of smoke after it. While they were both UFOs (as... well... they were in the sky and unidentified), I'm fairly certain the second of these was caused by a piece of space debris hitting the atmosphere... and the first, most likely, was probably some nifty aircraft I didn't know about as a kid.

As for thinking of someone and seeing them shortly after, that happens ALL THE TIME for me. I think about someone, leave my apartment, and walk through town and — BAM! (I know what you mean) — there they are. It's quite weird, but really happens too often to be simple random occurrences. I'll even walk out thinking, "Oh, I'll run into so-and-so in the next half hour" and actually do (and I never think about it and have it *not* happen, either).

Anyway, I thought it was interesting to hear from someone else on these same topics. (These topics are not normally things that one would talk about with others.)

Hi eaucoin,

No - that's not cynical at all - I think it is a great way of summing it up, and one that I hadn't actually appreciated until you mentioned it.

My short-term memory isn't very good either, but situations like those I mentioned stick very well.

Ultimately you are right - whilst I was noticing these things, I was missing what everyone else was getting. I still am. Thanks for the insight on this - I really wasn't expecting it, but now I've seen it, it's plainly true.
