Everything?

So – this sites explains everything, eh?

Well, no, of course not.

That explains everything‘ is a very good summary of how I felt the day I realised I had Asperger’s Syndrome (AS). Perhaps ‘That explains a lot of things‘ would be a better description, but I’m going with the gut feeling from that day.

This site is here because one day I realised I had AS. That realisation was a long time coming – I was 35 at the time, and I’ve had it for life.

I’d always known I was different, but until that day, I didn’t know why. My otherness was just a constant companion. The world never seemed to quite make sense, yet no-one else seemed to see that.

Well, now I know a lot about AS, and because of that I also know a lot about what makes me who I am. I’m different, yet I’m the same. I haven’t changed – I’m the same person I always was – I just understand me these days.

The aim of this site is to tell you a bit about what it’s like to have AS. It’s what it’s like to be me. This site gives my personal perspective on living with AS – you’ll find good things here, and bad. Hopefully you’ll find some surprises too.

We are on the whole an articulate bunch when it comes to writing, and there are other blogs out there by people with AS.  Many of them are very good, and I encourage you to read them too. However, as AS is a spectrum condition (you’ll hear that a lot), it means that different people experience different things. With this in mind, I’ve figured that there is room for one more blog. One more set of experiences for you to read about.

I hope I can give some insight. Maybe you suspect you have AS yourself, or maybe you know someone who has it, and want to find out more. I hope that this site will help you find what you are looking for.

Now – go and explore.
